Sam Tsai

Mental Health Coach

Sam Tsai is a mental health coach and cultural consultant with over 15 years of lived experience in managing mental health struggles. Sam holds a Bachelors in Psychology from Tyndale University and was enrolled in the Master of Divinity in Clinical Counseling Program with years of mentorship and collaboration with Medical Doctors, Psychiatrists, and Clinical Psychologists.


Sam comes from a Chinese background, having parents who immigrated from Hong Kong to become medical professionals in Canada and the USA. He is culturally aware of the many difficulties of the Asian diaspora with relation to mental health, especially the younger generation.


Sam has seen a broad spectrum of clients with various mental health struggles and goals but has personal experience with both major depressive disorder and gender dysphoria. Sam enjoys keeping himself updated with the latest of Clinical literature and has taken a fascination in School Refusal and Gaming addiction along with the Hikkikomori phenomenon and NEETs(Not in Education, Employment, or Training). Sam is also a mental health advocate for human rights in the area of accommodations for students with mental health disabilities.
